BIO 529 - Plant-Insect Interactions Herbivorous insects and their host plants represent a prime example of coeveolution - the populations of interacting species acting as selective agents of adaption for one another. This course will discuss the many ways in which insects exploit woody and herbaceous plants and how these interaction can benefit or adversely affect plant growth, survival, and competition. In addition, the course reviews the mechanisms involved with plant-insect interactions, including those related to chemical defenses, behaviors, adaptions and management.
