President’s Message

Welcome to the University of Maine.

We have much to be grateful for, and to celebrate, during these historic times.

No. 1, you comprise the Graduate School’s largest enrollment in university history. We appreciate that you - who collectively hail from 67 countries - have chosen to continue your education and develop your expertise at UMaine.

We’re proud of our 138 graduate program offerings - from aquaculture to autism spectrum disorders, from electrical engineering to elementary education, and from mathematics to music performance.

Whichever program you’ve chosen, we’re confident our world-renowned faculty and state-of-the-art facilities will provide a supportive and rich environment in which you can learn, flourish, make discoveries, scholarly advances, and creative contributions.

I’m excited to think of all the ways that you will utilize the expertise you gain and the relationships you forge to advance the state, the nation and the world.

We’ll follow you with pride as you make your mark. In nursing, interdisciplinary climate studies, resource economics and policy, and every other field.

During this time that is transformative for our world, I pledge that we will continue to adapt and innovate to provide you with excellent learning, research, public engagement and development opportunities.

I wish you all the very best this year.

Please let me know what I can do to help make your graduate educational experience a meaningful and rewarding one.

Sincerely,

Joan Ferrini-Mundy

President
