CEC 548 - Introduction to Mental Health and Community Counseling


A foundational course focused on the historical, social, political and ethical dimensions of the field as well as emerging trends and professional identity. Students have the opportunity to explore various roles played by professional counselors in the community and to become familiar with practice requirements. Models of direct service, prevention, advocacy, and community development are explored. Guided by CACREP standards, this course serves as preparation for further graduate study.
