ECO 410 - Introduction to Economics/Accelerated An accelerated presentation of the fundamental elements of micro- and macroeconomic
theory with policy applications relevant to business administration. The structure
and functioning of markets, including the theory of consumer behavior and the
theory of the firm. Alternative market structures. Theoretical analysis of tax
incidence and international trade. Market failure and the regulatory and fiscal
roles of the public sector in a market economy. The measurement of aggregate economic
activity, with emphasis on gross domestic product, unemployment, and inflation.
The functioning of the financial system. Determinants of economic growth and the
theory of economic fluctuations. Monetary and fiscal stabilization policy.
Prerequisites & Notes baccalaureate degree.
